Seting up behind the lab for viewing of the Transit of Venus on June 5, 2012
Kenneth's projection with binnoculars worked out great
One could *just* see the spot of Venus with the solar safety glasses
We had a good crowd for a while!
He designed this system for the Annular Ecllipse of May 20, 2012
6 3 Rokinon lens with a DIY Baader Astrosolar Safety film (ND5) filter
3:24 My best capture of the "tear-drop" effect
After work, I headed over to the hill to the west of The Buttes in the hopes of capturing the sun setting behind the downtown Phoenix skyline
The view was perfect!
There were a few others with the same idea
A few shots with the 500 mm prior to putting the filter back on
South Mountain towers
6:41 Focusing was extremely difficult due to high winds
More fun without the filter
Hmmm all these planes are giving me an idea
BINGO!!! at 7:11:31
7:11:32 Too bad my focus was not dead on
I of course had to take a pic of the pic on my camera screen and fire off to my Facebook friends :-)
7:20 Sun is starting to hit the haze and turn orange
Another plane very far away
Catching the horizon and another plane
Can you find the buildings in sillouetted by the sun in the previous two pictures?
7:38 End to a once-in-a-lifetime photo shoot opportunity for this amatuer photographer!!!
